  • The Rhoers Club

Rhoer shieldThe purpose of the Rhoers Club is to provide a positive experience for young women ages 13 to 18 in leadership development, academic counseling, personal counseling, mentoring, community service, and rites of passage. Rhoer Clubs were originally founded in 1939 at the 14th International Boule of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority. Rhoers are high school aged girls who participate in many of the activities of the sorority as well as special youth development programs.

Rhoer Clubs offer girls the opportunity to build their self esteem, learn about their heritage and develop the skills needed to be personally and academically successful. Leadership, Community Service and Scholarship are the hallmarks of the activity of the Rhoer Club.

Rhoers are organized on a local, regional and national level. Local clubs are advised by chapters of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and attend annual regional meetings to meet other Rhoers from their region. There are five regions nationally. Every two years Rhoers attend the sorority's International Boule and get a chance to meet Rhoers from all over the country to exchange ideas, receive training and have fun.

  • The Philo ClubPhilo Shield

Since its inception, Sigma Gamma Rho has promoted unity among women and for years many alumnae chapters worked with individuals who were not members of Greek-lettered organizations and who do not possess a 4 year degree from a college or university. These women were organized into auxiliaries that had various names until 1954 when the sorority officially approved the organized affiliate group and accepted the name of "Philo" (meaning Friend) as their official name.

In 1980 the Philos were organized on a national level and have grown to represent hundreds of women organized on a regional level as well. Today  the Philo Club consists of women of high caliber, dedication and commitment who share the sorority’s principles of sisterhood and service. These women assist Sigma Gamma Rho with our numerous service-oriented projects, programs and social activities sponsored by their advising chapter.  The Philos have contributed countless hours of community service and thousands of dollars to aid Sigma Gamma Rho's aim to enhance the quality of life within every community.
